Street Talk (1988-90), the book idea, by Alastair Law

Street Talk” was the name, not invented by me, but probably Chris "Ollie" Wilson, its previous editor whose writings you will have already read. There was never any shortage of fellow journalists on the Coventry Evening Telegraph to pick it up whenever I was away. Who could resist the daily arrivals of records, only a fraction of which were ever reviewed, and tickets and press office requests to interview star-studded pop idols. I've often wondered about the frequency of the column - every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday if my memory serves me well - and how the hell we kept up with it. I don't know about "Ollie" but I guess we had youth on our side. We must have done. And the work you are now holding in your hands, The always excellent pictures to accompany almost every interview and gig review by CET photographer extraordinaire Jason Tilley. Anyway, here are some remembrances from me about those times, long after "Ollie" had disappeared to the Daily Star in 1988. The Daily Star is still going, I saw a copy on my newsagent’s shelves just this morning! Blah, blah, blah... Goes into reviews...
